Introduction to Shakespeare 10th NOVEMBER - 12th DECEMBER 2008 An exciting project aimed at Junior Certificate Students. Due to the great success of our leaving certificate workshops this year we are presenting a similar workshop for Junior Certificate students in 2008. The workshop will be 90 minutes long and based on key scenes from Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ which is one of the the prescribed texts on the Junior Certificate Examination in 2008. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 100 students. Storytellers aim is to offer a unique and immediate theatre experience focused completely on the text without the distractions of set, lighting and costumes. Three professional actors and a director will present each scene focusing on character interpretation, language structure, possible themes and the cultural/political context in which Shakespeare was writing. Time will be allowed for interaction and debate. Students will be encouraged to suggest alternative approaches to a scene. The actors will take these ‘notes’ on board and recreate the new interpretation of the same scene. |
