19th JANUARY - 13th FEBRUARY 2009 An exciting project aimed at Leaving Certificate Students. Due to the great success of our workshops on ‘Macbeth’ and 'Othello' this year we are presenting a similar workshop for Leaving Certificate students in 2008. The workshop will be 90 minutes long and based on key scenes from Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ which is the prescribed text on the Leaving Certificate Examination in 2008. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 100 students. Storytellers aim is to offer a unique and immediate theatre experience focused completely on the text without the distractions of set, lighting and costumes. Three professional actors and a director will present each scene focusing on character interpretation, language structure, possible themes and the cultural/political context in which Shakespeare was writing. Time will be allowed for interaction and debate. Students will be encouraged to suggest alternative approaches to a scene. The actors will take these ‘notes’ on board and recreate the new interpretation of the same scene. |
