Storytellers continue to challenge their approach to telling classic tales. We will take one of the richest and most provocative classic stories and turn it into a vivid theatrical experience.

A seemingly naïve country girl is employed as governess to two orphaned children in a large country house. She gradually becomes haunted by strange noises and weird visions. She is convinced that these visions are the spirits of two notorious people from the children’s past. The question is, are these visitations real or do they exist only in her mind?

This is an intimate, ambiguous and complex story. It is part psychological thriller, part gothic horror. Is the girl emotionally manipulating two vulnerable children? Is she trying to take possession of them? Is she protecting them from an evil force? Or is she actually afraid of something hidden within herself?

This will be a physically dynamic production set in an unreal, nightmare world. Four versatile actors will play all the roles utilising a total theatre approach which will send a genuine shiver up the spine.

The creative team have worked together on numerous productions since 2000. Their work together has been recognised with three Irish Times Theatre Awards nominations in the last four years.
